Fattoria di Maiano is an agritourism located in a privileged position in the quiet hills of Fiesole, just 5 km from the center of Florence. Wooded slopes alternate with the steep contours of the Maiano quarries. It was from these quarries that the master stonemasons quarried the serena stone with which they built the Florentine buildings and residences. Nearby, the town of Fiesole with its archaeological area is worth a visit. The Fattoria di Maiano is more than a farmhouse on the outskirts of Florence: here you will have the opportunity to spend not only a vacation in the countryside, but an experience of authentic life in the country, on a real farm, also thanks to the activities organized inside the immense Botanic Garden, the largest in Italy. Guests can choose between two types of accommodations: apartments in the ancient village, ideal for families or for those who want maximum autonomy. Each apartment is unique in its style and complete with all comforts. Carved out of the rooms of a convent and other houses in the hamlet, the apartments offer splendid views and can accommodate from 2 up to 6 people. The rooms, which are located in a farmhouse and have recently been reevaluated and equipped with all comforts. Finally, the luxury suite: in a fairy-tale setting, a tower could not be missing, so the project for its renovation was born, resulting in the Fattoria Luxury Suite. Architect Simone Micheli signs the interiors of the Torre di Maiano, transforming it into a hospitable permanent work of art. Immersed in the greenery of the Romantic Park and reflected in the waters of the pond below, it is set beneath the wall of the quarry from whose rocky walls the Magnifico had the stones for the columns of the Chapel of the Princes, in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence. The ancient tower is transformed into a suite of extreme luxury in which, having crossed the threshold, ancient, present and future immediately merge. It is a Senior Suite for two, with four floors. It includes the kitchen on the ground floor, living room on the second floor, bedroom on the second floor and finally on the top floor a Turkish bath. Accessing the floors is only possible by walking up the steep spiral staircase made of sandstone. Nature, relaxation and activities for everyone! Inside the farm, 20,000 olive trees, botanical varieties, orchards, organic crops, and free visit to the educational farm with horses, Shetland ponies, geese, chickens, ducks, ostriches, Dexter cows and mini-cows, cinte senesi and Amiata donkeys. It is not difficult to encounter wild species as well: deer, foxes, woodpeckers, owls and porcupines. In the heart of the park, there is an area dedicated to outdoor fitness. Play area for the little ones and panoramic infinity-edge outdoor pool from mid-May to the end of September. Organized activities include discovering the world of bees, brushing and grooming donkeys, saddle christening on ponies, harvesting and planting in the vegetable garden, and egg hunts. For the more adventurous, we suggest an off-road adventure on the estate, or a night trek, particularly challenging if done at sunset, when encounters with woodland animals are also likely. Farmhouse restaurant: authenticity and tradition from breakfast with cakes, cookies and homemade bread made with flours from selected grains, honey, jams, Tuscan cold cuts and cheeses. Lunch and dinner with traditional Tuscan dishes, always focusing on the freshness of the products, first of all the vegetables and fruits harvested in the organic garden of the farm and the extra virgin olive oil, considered a premium product. Picnic baskets are also available for consumption in the dedicated areas of the park.
